A family walks through a snow-covered English village on a clear winter's night. The church tower rises behind a lit Christmas tree, a red postbox stands at the corner with holly tucked around it, and a robin sits quietly in the foreground. Lamplight catches the fresh snow on the rooftops while a crescent moon hangs in a deep blue sky above it all.
Richard Macneil has packed a lot of atmosphere into this one — the warm glow from cottage windows against the cold blue of the night gives the whole image a strong contrast that makes it satisfying to sort. The tricky parts are the dark tree canopy and the shadowed snow in the middle ground, where tones blend together. The figures walking away from you draw the eye straight into the scene.
1000 pieces. Gibsons use thick, high-quality puzzle board and the finished size is a generous 49 x 49 cm.
The deep blue night sky, dark snow-laden tree canopy, and subtle mid-ground shadows create large areas of similar cool tones that are tricky to differentiate during assembly.
