A traditional British fairground in full swing. A grand carousel dominates the left of the scene, its painted horses mid-gallop beneath a canopy of red, gold and green. Families mill about on the grass — a girl clutches a cloud of pink candyfloss, a toddler crouches to pet a golden retriever, and a couple push through the crowd with a youngster in tow. To the right, prize teddy bears hang in rows outside a striped tent, and a ferris wheel turns in the background against a sky dotted with hot air balloons.
Tony Ryan packs a lot in without it ever feeling cluttered. There's a Waltzers sign half-visible behind the carousel, a candy floss stall in the middle distance, and all sorts of small moments happening at once. The warm afternoon light gives the whole scene a slightly nostalgic feel — this is very much the fairground of memory rather than a modern theme park.
As a build, this is a decent challenge. The carousel alone has enough intricate detail and repeating gold-and-red patterning to keep you busy, and the busy crowd scene means you'll be matching faces and clothing rather than broad colour blocks. The blue sky and the green treeline at the top offer a bit of breathing space, but the middle of the puzzle is packed.
The intricate carousel with repeating gold and red patterning, a densely packed crowd scene with many small figures, and several mid-ground stalls with similar colour tones all make sorting and placing pieces genuinely tricky.
