Edinburgh – 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Ravensburger)

Ten minutes after sunset is when Edinburgh shows off. The floodlights come up on the castle rock, the New Town turns gold below it, and the Balmoral clock tower stands lit above Waverley — still running three minutes fast, as it has for over a century, so that nobody misses their train.

This is a photograph rather than a painting, so the detail is real detail: chimney stacks and wet slate, the Scott Monument black against the last of the light, a hundred separate lit windows. The rooftops are the long game and the soft blue sky is where the patience goes. Finished size 70 x 50cm.
