Sir Walter Scott's house at Melrose, with its round tower and crow-stepped gables rising above the arcaded garden wall. Swallows cut across the roofline, hollyhocks and red dahlias run along the border, and a gardener wheels a barrow past visitors stopped on the lawn to take photographs.
The flower border gives you colour to work with; the pale sandstone across the top half is the slower going. Finished size 69 x 48cm.
