A classic British pub on a summer afternoon — flower baskets spilling over with pink, yellow and purple blooms, a Union Jack above the door, and a golden retriever sprawled contentedly on the pavement outside. A couple of lads stand chatting with pints in hand while tables of drinkers fill the pavement to the right, and a waiter weaves between them. The corner entrance, with its arched fanlight and dark green woodwork, sits at the heart of the scene.
Greg Giordano has packed this one with life. The red brick, the hanging baskets, the cobbled street and the pigeons pecking around underfoot all give you plenty to get stuck into during the build. The flower sections are the real sorting challenge — there's a lot of colour variety, but the blooms themselves blend into one another more than you'd expect.
At 1000 pieces, this is a solid afternoon-into-evening build, and the finished result is the kind of image that looks at home on a wall. From Gibsons, family-run since 1919.
The scene has strong colour variety and clear focal points, but the dense hanging flower baskets and similarly toned brick and cobblestone areas create some tricky mid-build sections.
