Five of England's most celebrated castles are brought together in a single collage-style illustration, each one given its own flavour. Tintagel's ruined clifftop arches sit alongside a brooding hooded dragon; Dover Castle is framed by red roses, poppies, and a Spitfire banking overhead; Kenilworth takes centre stage with its tower and Elizabethan-era figure; Carisbrooke shows a knight at the gatehouse; and Bolsover Castle occupies the bottom-right corner with a Jacobean horseman. Banners and ribbon scrolls carry each castle's name, which makes sorting a genuinely satisfying part of the build.
The collage layout means the image is busy with contrasting colour zones — stone greys, vivid greens, warm reds — so the sorting stage is reasonably clear, but the tightly detailed stonework and overlapping vignettes will keep you occupied throughout. This is a Gibsons puzzle produced in partnership with English Heritage, and the illustration quality is strong enough that it frames nicely once complete.
The collage format places multiple detailed castle vignettes with intricate stonework, overlapping figures, and complex patterned borders in close proximity, creating many areas of similar tone and texture that are tricky to differentiate.
