Warm Winter's Day - 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Cobble Hill)

A red Adirondack chair sits half-buried in snow, and every inch of it has been claimed by birds. A blue jay and cardinal share the armrest, a downy woodpecker clings to the back, chickadees hop along the seat, and a nuthatch works its way down one leg. A little pine wreath with tartan ribbon is tucked into the corner, and below it all a golden retriever puppy has flopped down in the snow to watch.

It's a busy one to build. Snow covers most of the chair in soft blues and whites, so the real work is in sorting all those birds — cardinal red, jay blue, sparrow brown — against the wintry background. The puppy's face gives you a nice easy anchor to start from.

Good one for anyone who likes a garden bird count, or fancies a Christmas puzzle that isn't just baubles and Santa.
