Snow has been falling on the village all afternoon and now the light is going, so every window along the street is lit and the little white church glows like a lamp. A horse and open carriage waits outside while people in long coats stand about in twos and threes, in no hurry at all.
Two children are rolling a snowball across the garden on the left, garlands with red bows run along every fence, and Chuck Pinson has signed it down in the corner.
Snow-covered areas are similar in tone, but buildings, trees, and warm lighting provide useful visual anchors.
Snowy village scene with white church and horse-drawn carriage
