Buckets of tulips and dahlias spill over the stone wall along a Parisian street, with striped awnings in red, blue and cream marking out the stalls beyond. Shoppers wander between the flowers and the café tables under the blue canopy, and the tall shuttered buildings behind give the whole scene a proper old-Paris feel.
It's a busy build. The flower stalls in the foreground break down into hundreds of small colour patches, so sort by shade before you start rather than trying to work it all at once. The buildings give you a break from the flowers, with straighter lines and repeated windows to anchor the piece.
A nice one for anyone who likes a market scene with plenty going on, and a good excuse to leave it out on the table for a few evenings running.
The dense flower stalls create hundreds of similarly-toned small colour patches that will need careful sorting, though the architecture offers clearer reference points.
