Bank of the Oise at Auvers by Vincent van Gogh – 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Pomegranate)

Rowing boats pulled up on the riverbank — a red-trimmed skiff, one painted blue and white, a bare ochre hull lying across the foreground — with a man in dark blue standing in one of them and two figures in pale dresses seated nearby. Van Gogh painted the Oise at Auvers in 1890, the last summer of his life, building the water and the overhanging trees from short strokes of green, teal and blue.

Those strokes give the river and the foliage endless near-matches, so the boats and figures go in first and the green takes the rest of the evening. Finished size 68 x 51cm.
