Montreal River by Lawren S. Harris – 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Pomegranate)

Dark spruces stand in the foreground against a wide river the colour of pale lavender, and the far bank runs scarlet, orange and lime with autumn. Lawren Harris laid the paint on thick, so the water is a mass of horizontal strokes and the opposite shore a wall of broken colour.

The river band across the middle is the slow section; the spruces and the autumn bank both give clear edges to work from. Finished size 63.5 x 50.8cm.
