Bright Land by Arthur Lismer – 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Pomegranate)

A single pine holds the centre, mauve-trunked with dark boughs spread flat like shelves, and behind it a blue lake, a bank of gold birches and pale cliffs under a streaked sky. Arthur Lismer painted it in 1938; the foreground is bare pink rock with sweeping striations, bleached fallen branches and a scatter of small red flowers.

The gold foliage is thousands of near-identical dabs and the sky is little better — build the rock shelf and the pine trunk first. Finished size 50.8 x 63.5cm
