Snow has bent every branch into a heavy white curve, and a pale lilac path runs up the centre between them. Lawren S. Harris paints the trunks in blue and plum, lets low yellow light through the trees at the back, and flicks in dark green needles and the odd dash of red — the only strong colour anywhere in the picture.
Whites, lilacs and cool blues cover most of the board, so sorting comes down to the direction of the brushstroke rather than colour. Finished size 69 x 49cm.
The scene relies heavily on subtle white, blue and lilac tones for the snow, with few strong colour contrasts to guide sorting.
