Autumn Hillside by Franklin Carmichael – 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Pomegranate)

Dark spruce spires cut up through a hillside turning: orange maple across the top, gold and lime birches to the right, teal sky with one white cloud on the left, and blue-purple hills folding away behind. Franklin Carmichael painted it in 1920 in thick dabs, with grey boulders and a pink-lit rock face across the foreground and a weathered log below.

The teal sky is close to a single colour and the massed autumn leaves are all the same brushstroke — start with the spruce silhouettes. Finished size 50.8 x 63.5cm
