Rex Ray hangs strands of pods, teardrops and beaded chains down a black field — tangerine and turquoise, acid yellow, magenta and olive, each shape cut from patterned paper and threaded like beads on a string. Some strands run the full drop, others stop halfway and start again.
A square puzzle with black between every strand and shapes that repeat with small variations, so it is sorted by bead and pattern rather than colour. Finished size 63.5 x 63.5cm.
The dark background with many similarly shaped colourful ornamental forms repeating vertically creates confusion between sections despite the vibrant colours.
