Canyon Country by Charley Harper – 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Pomegranate)

A peregrine falcon hangs wings-spread in a slot canyon, rust and black rock closing in either side and a wedge of blue sky above with a monarch butterfly in it. Charley Harper cut everything down to flat geometry: a ringtail's banded tail loops across the rock face, a bobcat stares out of the sagebrush, and a bighorn skull, a mule deer, a quail and a blue collared lizard sit among the grey driftwood at the foot. One of ten posters he made for the US National Park Service.

Hard edges and flat blocks of colour make the sorting quick, though the striped canyon walls repeat more than they first appear to. Finished size 64 x 50cm.
