A beaver comes head-on through lilac water with a stripped birch branch in its teeth, only the top of its head showing. Charley Harper stacks the rest of Rocky Mountain National Park above it — a black-billed magpie with a long green tail, a mountain bluebird, a red-headed western tanager, a leaping rainbow trout, a tiger swallowtail, pink fireweed, gnawed aspen stumps in a row and yellow leaves falling through all of it.
Harper works in flat unshaded blocks, so the beaver's brown body and the green ground go in almost entirely by shape. Finished size 73.6 x 50.8cm.
Bold flat colour areas with distinct geometric shapes of animals and plants, though some uniformly green sections increase difficulty.
