We Think the World of Birds by Charley Harper – 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Pomegranate)

Charley Harper packs a continent of birds into one pale blue egg — a cardinal, a wood duck, a barn owl, a great blue heron, warblers, meadowlarks and a green parrot, every one reduced to flat triangles and hard-edged blocks of colour. It was painted for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, whose low building sits in a row of dark green trees along the bottom edge.

Harper's flat shapes give clean colour blocks to sort by, but the navy border and the plain blue field inside the egg are largely featureless. Finished size 51 x 68cm.
