Jack Pine and Poplar

A bank of sunlit poplars in lime and emerald, sculpted into solid blocks, with bare spindly pine trunks rising through them and dark windswept crowns silhouetted against a grey-blue lake. Blue hills stack behind under a pale sky, and bleached rock slabs and a fallen dead tree fill the foreground. A.J. Casson, 1948.
