The Birch Grove, Autumn by Tom Thomson – 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Pomegranate)

Tom Thomson's birches stand in a close crowd, white and leaning, against a wall of orange and gold leaf with dark spruce packed in behind. The ground is laid on thick in rust and burnt umber over pale grey boulders, with flecks of blue and teal in the shadows and one strip of turquoise sky showing through at the top left.

The trunks give a clear grid to build from; the boulders and the churned orange ground beneath them are all brushwork and almost no shape. Finished size 63.5 x 50.8cm.
