Sunlight in a Wood by Arthur Lismer – 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Pomegranate)

Light coming through a wood, painted by Arthur Lismer in 1930 as broken dabs of lemon, turquoise, lilac and pink. Grey-blue trunks lean across the front, dark pine boughs stack flat at the top left, and pale bleached roots and fallen branches twist through moss and orange undergrowth at the base.

That flickering pale background has no edges and no landmarks at all, so the trunks and the roots are the only structure to hang it on. Finished size 50.8 x 63.5cm
