A great armful of yellow flowers has been crammed into a plain cream vase, and there are far more of them than the vase was ever meant to hold. They lean out in every direction on their own stems, the broad green leaves drooping underneath, against a wall of soft grey and lilac.
The vase stands on a round red table, ringed with a border of dark fruit, and Claude Monet has signed it in red down in the corner.
