A whole bed of irises in flower, deep blue-violet heads nodding above a tangle of long green leaves, with the red-brown earth of the garden showing through at the front and a drift of orange marigolds along the top edge.
Van Gogh lets no two leaves behave the same way. They bend, curl and cross over one another all across the picture. Look for the one white iris standing on its own over on the left!
The bold contrast between the purple irises and green foliage helps with sorting, though the dense overlapping leaves add moderate challenge.
