The shop girl has your parcel wrapped and tied in red, and she is holding the door open with her other hand, looking straight out at you as you go. Behind her the counter is heaped with ribbons and coloured silks, half of them spilling over the edge, and a gentleman in a top hat is leaning in to be served.
Out through the glass the street carries on without them, carriages and hats and somebody hurrying past the window!
