He has his arms right round her and his face buried in her hair, and she has closed her eyes and turned her cheek up to meet him. His robe is a wall of gold rectangles with a panel of black and white squares down the front; hers is scattered with coloured ovals, little birds and triangles.
Behind the pair of them a great tree fills the whole background, its golden branches curling off in spirals in every direction, with one small bird sitting among the coils.
