Robert Delaunay has stood at the foot of the Eiffel Tower and tilted his head back, and the whole of Paris tips over with him. The tower climbs in orange and yellow lattice, leaning first one way and then the other, while the sky behind breaks into slabs of green, rose and deep blue.
A rounded pink cloud drifts across the top corner, and the buildings alongside have folded flat into panels of colour, as though the whole street were a window in stained glass!
Abstract cubist style with large areas of similar flat colour, fragmented geometric shapes, and limited texture makes piece differentiation challenging.
