Catskill Moon by Jack Stuppin – 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Pomegranate)

A pale pink moon hangs low in a lilac sky streaked with long white cloud, over navy ridges and then hillside after hillside of scarlet, orange, gold and deep green. Jack Stuppin paints the Catskills in short stippled dabs, so every slope carries a different texture as well as a different colour, and a row of single trees — red, orange, yellow, blue-green — stands along an ochre field at the bottom.

Colour does most of the sorting, which makes it friendlier than it first looks; the lilac sky and the plain ochre foreground are the two blocks that fight back. Finished size 63.5 x 50.8cm.
