This Week's Arrivals
Eight new puzzles have landed this week, and every single one of them is from Heye — a German publisher with a real knack for commissioning artwork that sits well outside the usual puzzle fare. It's a diverse haul too: Heye brings us everything from a waterside boatyard scene to a monster absorbed in his smartphone, and quite a lot of fun in between.
Nautical Charm
The friendly little shipyard with its charming activity on and around the water is one of the favourite subjects of the artist duo Doro Göbel and Peter Knorr — and it's easy to see why. The German artistic couple met during their time at Arts University in Mainz, and they are both authors of award-winning pictures and books. Their style is warm, witty, and densely packed with incident: exactly the kind of image that keeps you reaching for pieces. Boatyard by Doro Göbel & Peter Knorr also arrives in Heye's distinctive triangular box, which makes it a lovely one to give as a gift.
Digital Art and Urban Scenes
The Macedonian artist Viktor Gavriloski is extremely versatilely talented: after 15 years working in the fields of video production, film, music and graphic design, he has discovered working with AI for himself, and uses it to conjure up atmospheric scenes with a fascinating paper look. The result is unlike anything else in the puzzle market right now. Tall, stylised buildings rise on either side of a lively street in bold reds, teals, corals and warm neutrals; oversized umbrella-like canopies float above pedestrians, while faceted crystal-like trees and geometric shapes add texture and depth, and retro cars line the street with tiny figures strolling below. Paper-Like — Street Canyon by Viktor Gavriloski is a genuinely striking puzzle to look at, and a refreshing change of pace if your table has been occupied by landscapes of late.
Wildlife with Personality
Fauna Fantasies — Giraffolove by André Sanchez is part of Heye's Fauna Fantasies series, which takes animal subjects and gives them a bold, illustrative treatment rather than the photorealistic approach you'd find elsewhere. The title alone hints at the warmth and playfulness at the heart of the image — this is art-led puzzling that works just as well framed on a wall as it does flat on a table. It's an accessible £15.47, making it a solid choice for a gift or a treat for yourself.
The Zozoville World
The Zozoville Gallery, run by American artist Mateo Dineen and Dutch artist Johan Potma, is a fantasy world full of bizarre creatures. The series has a devoted following, and it's not difficult to understand why once you've seen the artwork. The latest addition to the range, Phony Love by Johan Potma, sees an adorable shaggy white monster lounging on a bed, completely absorbed in a smartphone, while floating hearts drift upward and flames flicker outside the window — a gently satirical scene that most households will recognise. Potma's signature Zozoville style blends gentle humour with heartwarming charm , and this one is no exception.
Bold Portraiture
People by Voka: Marilyn is part of Heye's People series, in which artist Voka brings a gestural, expressive painting style to iconic subjects. Marilyn Monroe is one of the most portrayed figures in 20th-century art, but Voka's interpretation is loose, energetic and distinctly contemporary — far removed from the flat-colour pop art approach most people will expect. If you enjoy puzzles that double as a conversation piece, this one will earn its place on your finished-puzzles shortlist.
Summer Mood and Leisure
Two of this week's arrivals lean into the theme of relaxation rather nicely, which feels fitting for the time of year. Relax! — Lounge Chair by Victoria Nahum belongs to Heye's Relax! series, and at £17.97 it's a pleasingly priced option with the kind of soft, inviting imagery that makes for a genuinely calming puzzle session. Meanwhile, Time Off — Pool Position by Lilly Muth puts you poolside for the duration of the build — all dappled light, summer colours and the delicious sense of having absolutely nowhere to be. Both feel very much of the moment right now.
Some puzzles are worth doing just for the atmosphere they create while you're building them. These two are firmly in that category.
Seek-and-Find Fun
Rounding off the week is Wanted: Seek & Find — Door Lock Tonio by Loup, part of Heye's Wanted series, which layers a hidden-object challenge on top of the puzzle itself. Artist Loup creates densely detailed scenes packed with characters and incident, so once the jigsaw is finished there's a second game waiting. At £14.47 it's the most affordable puzzle in this week's batch, and it works brilliantly for families or for anyone who likes their puzzles to have a bit more to offer once the last piece is in place.
See Everything New
All eight of these puzzles are in stock now and ready to ship. UK delivery is £3.97 per order regardless of how much you buy, so it's well worth picking up more than one if something has caught your eye — which, given this week's arrivals, seems fairly likely.
