This Week's New Arrivals
Christmas in May — and we mean that in the best possible way. Both puzzles landing on the shelves this week come from Schmidt's Thomas Kinkade collection, and if you're the sort of puzzler who likes to get the festive ones sorted well in advance (good thinking, frankly), this is a week worth paying attention to.
Disney Lilo and Stitch Aloha Christmas
There's something quietly brilliant about this one. The painting brings together a delightful fusion of Hawaiian yuletide cheer, centred on a beach house festooned with twinkling lights and lush hibiscus garlands. Lilo and Stitch steal the show, joyfully piloting a small spaceship — a playful nod to Stitch's extraterrestrial origins. If you love Lilo & Stitch or know someone who does, Disney Lilo and Stitch Aloha Christmas by Thomas Kinkade is a genuine delight — all the warmth of a classic Christmas puzzle, but with a tropical twist and a whole lot of ohana spirit. It's priced at £15.97.
Santa's Silent Night
If the Lilo & Stitch puzzle leans into fun and colour, Santa's Silent Night by Thomas Kinkade goes in completely the opposite direction — and it's just as appealing for it. There's something wonderfully peaceful about this winter village scene; you can almost hear the crunch of snow underfoot and feel the cosy glow spilling from each warmly lit window, with Santa busy on the rooftops delivering gifts under a moonlit sky. The glowing church on the hill, frosted pine trees, and snow-covered cottages all come together in this festive composition. This is the kind of puzzle that earns its place on the table every December — ideal for anyone who finds the building of it just as enjoyable as the finished image. At £15.47, it's a lovely one to tuck away for autumn.
Thomas Kinkade's Christmas scenes have a genuine knack for making you feel like winter hasn't quite arrived until you've got one on the table.
About Schmidt and Thomas Kinkade
Both puzzles come from Schmidt, whose reputation for quality is well-earned. Their puzzles are produced to a high standard using individually shaped, close-fitting pieces with a linen structure and matt finish — which means the image looks just as good during the build as it does once it's complete. No distracting glare, and pieces that actually stay where you put them.
Thomas Kinkade Studios, meanwhile, has made something of an art form out of the deeply atmospheric — the artwork is characterised by Kinkade's signature luminous light, creating a heartwarming quality throughout. The Disney collaborations in particular have a broad appeal, landing equally well with puzzle fans who collect Kinkade's work and those who simply love the characters.
