The sleigh bells are practically audible in this one. A horse pulls two bundled-up passengers along the snowy lane, a black dog trotting behind trying to keep up, while a towering lit Christmas tree dominates the foreground of the village green. Behind it, a white church steeple, a general store, a hardware shop and a row of clapboard houses catch the last of the golden evening light.

There's plenty going on to keep you occupied for an afternoon: skaters circling the frozen pond under strings of lamplight, wreaths on every lamppost, and a stone bridge arching over the water. The warm shopfront windows against the cool blue snow give good colour contrast for sorting, though the large dark tree and shadowed foreground snow will take a bit more patience.

A nice one to have on the table through December, with a poster included to help keep track of where everything goes.

Balanced detail with a clear focal tree and busy village backdrop, though the shadowed snow and dark evergreen branches offer some tricky, similarly toned areas.
