Rockwell's 1943 cover girl on her lunch break: red hair, blue denim dungarees, goggles pushed up on her head, a rivet gun laid across her lap and a sandwich in one hand. Her badges and union pins are painted one by one, her lunchbox is stencilled ROSIE, and her penny loafers rest on a copy of Mein Kampf. The stars and stripes fill the wall behind.
The flag is the awkward bit — long runs of flat red and cream with only the fold shadows to place them by. Finished size 45.7 x 61cm.
Broad bands of flat red and cream in the flag behind the figure.
