Flying saucers are hovering over the playground, a purple blob alien has wrapped itself around the rocket climbing frame, and a news helicopter is already on the scene. Kids are being lifted into the air by tractor beams, someone's dog is going berserk, and a rather alarmed granny in blue-tinted specs is looking directly at us as if to say she did not sign up for this on a Tuesday afternoon.
This is a Wasgij Junior puzzle, which means the box image is not what you build. The small panel on the right shows a horrified woman with an alien sitting on her head — that's your clue. You're puzzling what happens next, not what's on the front. It's a genuinely good twist for kids who've done regular jigsaws and want something with a bit more to it.
At 240 pieces and rated 8+, the piece count is manageable, but the cartoon illustration is busy enough to keep older children engaged. The bold colours and chunky character design make sorting straightforward, and there's plenty to talk about while you're building.
Bold cartoon illustration with strong colour contrast and clearly distinct characters makes sorting straightforward, though the busy scene with many overlapping figures adds a little challenge.
