A jester in a red coat is waving a glowing wand at a woman with a pushchair, who looks less than impressed. Around them, the Efteling theme park is in full swing — roller coaster tracks curl behind a gothic castle, a dragon lurks to the left, and dozens of visitors are going about their day with varying degrees of awareness that something is about to happen. The foreground is packed with incident: a toddler scowling from a buggy, dwarves underfoot, a man in an orange shirt looking baffled, and what appears to be a very annoyed pigeon.
This is a Wasgij Mystery puzzle, which means the image on the box is not what you build. You're puzzling what happens next — so the box art is your only clue. It's a genuinely different experience from a standard jigsaw, and the Efteling setting gives the illustrator plenty to work with. Fans of the Dutch theme park will spot familiar landmarks and characters tucked throughout the scene.
At 1000 pieces, the illustration is busy enough to keep things interesting without being punishing. The strong colour contrasts between the red jester, the crowd, and the castle architecture help with sorting, though the mid-ground detail will keep you honest.
The scene is packed with dozens of small figures, intricate architectural detail, and busy mid-ground foliage that share similar tones, making sorting and placement genuinely challenging.
