Flowers, Italy by Joseph Stella – 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Pomegranate)

Joseph Stella built a garden like a cathedral in 1931 — mottled silver trunks rising as columns into a gold pointed arch, deep blue sky between them. A white spider lily trails its filaments down the centre over a gold calla and a dark red arum, with broad white blooms, red hibiscus, pink amaryllis and a blue water lily massed along the bottom, and a goldfinch perched on a stem to the left.

The blue between the stems is the slow part, and the large white flowers resemble each other closely enough to swap. Finished size 63.5 x 63.5cm
