American Diner – 500 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Ravensburger)

This is a real place: Bob's Big Boy on Riverside Drive in Burbank, open since 1949 and the oldest one still standing. The street number is there on the canopy, the mascot is up on the pylon sign holding his double-decker aloft, and in 1965 the Beatles came looking for a proper American diner and ended up in a booth here.

It is drawn flat and graphic, the way a travel poster is, with the sunset laid down in long orange bands and the palms cut out against it. Broad areas of single colour make this a steady solve rather than a hard one, and the sky is where the patience goes. Finished size 49 x 36cm.
