The Sistine Chapel panel photographed where it sits, painted architecture included. Adam is propped on one elbow at the left, arm out; God comes from the right carried in a crimson cloak crowded with figures, one arm reaching back. The nude youths lean in at all four corners and the painted stone frame runs round the edge.
The gap between the two hands is a wide field of pale grey plaster with almost nothing on it, so the figures go in first and the middle takes the longest. Finished size 68.6 x 50.8cm.
A broad expanse of near-featureless pale plaster across the centre of the picture.
