Chaos by Deb Stoner – 500 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Pomegranate)

Deb Stoner lays her Pacific Northwest plants straight onto a flatbed scanner, so every stem sits razor-sharp against pure black: pink fringe flowers and flowering currant, white blossom, blue grape hyacinths and bluebells, catkins, ferns and a coiled shoot curling up the centre. The insects are in there too — a wasp on the pink currant, a bumblebee low on the right, a beetle down among the leaves.

Half the picture is black, which sounds punishing but is the easy half — the massed greens and the repeated blue bells take far longer. Finished size 61 x 45.7cm.
