Poplars on the Epte by Claude Monet – 500 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Pomegranate)

A row of poplars curving away along the riverbank, slim mauve trunks with feathery blue-green crowns high above, painted by Monet in 1891 near Giverny — he bought the trees outright when a timber merchant came for them mid-series. Below, the water holds their reflection in vertical streaks, and pink-tinged cloud spreads across the sky and again across the surface.

The bottom half is reflection: hundreds of near-identical blue and green dabs with no edges to them, and the cloudy sky plays the same trick above. Finished size 50.8 x 50.8cm
