Marc gave his animals colours according to what he thought they meant, and blue meant the spiritual and the masculine, so the horse is blue. It stands with its head lowered and turned away against hills of pink, yellow and green that curve round it, and there is not a straight line anywhere in the picture.
Broad curved fields of flat colour with clean boundaries between them. Finished size 48 x 69cm.
