The concert has started, and Kandinsky is not painting the orchestra so much as the sound of it. A great black wedge comes down like the lid of a piano, and yellow floods out from underneath it across the whole hall.

Around the edges the audience are there in dabs of blue and red, leaning in, and a few blue strokes go up like notes still hanging in the air!
