The city has been left in silver and grey (every tower, every window, the clouds rolling over Manhattan) and only the Brooklyn Bridge is allowed its colour. Its stone piers glow warm amber, the roadway runs gold across the river, and the strings of lamps down the cables stand out like beads.
The flag is up on the near tower and the whole lit shape lies still in the water below!
