Chiachio & Giannone – Calaverita – 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Pomegranate)

Two faces painted up as calaveras — one marked in green and blue, one hooded in white — with a black-and-tan dachshund between them and red roses across the bottom. Chiachio & Giannone embroider the whole thing by hand, and the ground behind is a repeating print of small skulls, striped serapes, dancers and orange lilies inside a red-and-gold border.

The border and the roses go in fast; the background is the same handful of motifs over and over, and that is the real work. Finished size 50.8 x 63.5cm.
