The Duel by Olga Suvorova – 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Pomegranate)

Two knights in gilded armour stand face to face with a sword laid across between them, a pale woman in white behind with her hands together. Olga Suvorova fills everything else with pattern: brocade banners in coral, turquoise and gold unfurling either side, a black surcoat embroidered with a gold flower, roses along the bottom edge and parrots flying in from both top corners against a near-black ground.

The gold armour is the quick win; the patterned fabrics repeat their motifs at several different scales and the dark ground gives almost nothing away. Finished size 63.5 x 50.8cm.
