The Accolade by Edmung Blair Leighton – 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Eurographics)

The knight has come in from somewhere and dropped straight to one knee, head bowed, his helmet set down on the step beside him. She lays the flat of the sword on his shoulder without hurrying, long red-gold hair, a white and gold gown pooling down the stairs, a circlet on her head.

Behind them the court has gathered to watch: an old bearded man, a young lad with a banner, all of them quite still. Edmund Blair Leighton painted the moment just before anybody breathes out.
