There is something genuinely special about this scene. Keith Stapleton has placed a herd of shaggy Highland cattle front and centre, drinking from a stream and wandering through wildflower meadows, while Stirling Castle looms magnificently on its rocky crag in the background. It is the kind of painting that makes you want to plan a trip to Scotland immediately.
The contrast between the warm, russet tones of the Highland cows and the cool grey stone of the castle walls gives this puzzle a really satisfying mix of textures to work through. The lush green hillside, the yellow buttercups, the stream, and those dramatic clouds all add layers of detail that will keep you thoroughly absorbed from first piece to last.
A House of Puzzles classic in every sense — and it includes one unique shaped piece, which is always a lovely touch. Perfect for anyone who loves Scotland, wildlife, or simply a beautiful landscape painting to lose an afternoon in.
The image offers good colour variety between the warm tawny cattle, green hillside, and grey castle stonework, but the rocky cliff face, grassy meadow, and cloudy sky each contain stretches of similar tones that will require careful sorting.
