Severin Roesen - Still Life, Flowers and Fruit, 1855 - 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Bluebird)

Roesen came to America in 1848 and spent the rest of his life painting fruit and flowers piled higher than anyone else dared. Here roses, lilies and morning glories spill across the table beside grapes, peaches and a cut melon, all of it lit from one side and set against a ground so dark you cannot tell where the room ends.

Deep near-black across half the canvas, so the flowers are the only place to start. Finished size 69 x 48cm.
