Up at Minton’s

A trumpeter in a magenta double-breasted suit blows into the top corner of Romare Bearden's 1980 collage, a bassist behind him in blue with a small yellow fish on his tie, a pianist bent over black-and-white keys at the lower right, and a pale moon hanging in a flat red wall.

Cut-paper shapes with hard edges mean the figures assemble fast. The wide red field between them is where the time goes. Finished size 68.5 x 50.8cm.
