A Bar at the Folies-Bergere by Édouard Manet – 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Pomegranate)

The barmaid stands square behind her marble counter in a dark blue jacket with lace at the throat and roses pinned at her chest, gold-foiled champagne, a green bottle with a red triangle and a bowl of oranges lined up in front of her. Behind is a mirror holding the whole crowded music hall, the globe lights, and a pair of green boots in the top left corner where a trapeze artist dangles. Manet painted it in 1882.

The bottles and oranges go in early; the blurred reflected crowd is where it slows right down. Finished size 68.5 x 50.8cm.
