Klimt spent three years on this and used real gold and silver leaf to do it, and it shows. Adele stands with her hands clasped oddly in front of her, her face and shoulders the only part painted as flesh, and everything else dissolves into a gold field of spirals, eyes and rectangles until you cannot tell dress from chair from wall.
Gold ornament over nearly the entire panel, which makes this a long one. Finished size 48 x 69cm.
