by Petrus Plancius · 1500 pieces
This is the world as Petrus Plancius drew it in 1594: two great hemispheres in gold rings, with the Latin title running across the top. America bulges in surprising places, a vast southern land called Magallanica fills the bottom of the globe, and galleons and a sea monster sail the oceans. Round the edges, figures for Europe, Asia, Africa, Mexicana, Peruana and Magallanica sit among their animals, riding elephants and crocodiles, and two star charts full of constellations sit between the hemispheres.
A richly coloured map from the age of exploration that looks wonderful on a wall. Finished size 80 x 60cm.
1500 pieces with large pale map areas covered in fine lettering and grid lines
